About The Role
As the General Manager of Recess Austin, you will be responsible for driving the growth, performance, and overall success of our business across the greater Austin area. You’ll own the local strategy, balancing operational excellence with revenue growth, and ensuring an outstanding experience for families, schools, and our provider partners.

This is a role for a hands-on leader who can set a clear vision, prioritize initiatives across multiple teams, and take full accountability for outcomes. You’ll lead with a deep understanding of the Austin community, championing its unique needs while aligning with Recess’s broader goals.

We’re looking for a leader who can inspire, build, and coach a high-performing team to help us bring more joyful opportunities to families in Austin.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as the commercial and operational leader for the Austin market, building the strongest network of families, schools, and activity providers.
  • Develop deep expertise across local supply and demand dynamics. Build deep relationships with activity providers — camps, studios, after-school programs — to grow our network and ensure a world-class experience.
  • Lead and grow a team across sales, account management, and operations functions.
  • Set priorities to ensure we offer the best programs, experiences, and customer service.
  • Own the market’s financial performance, with accountability across user growth, partner success, and operational health.
  • Represent Recess as needed as a community ambassador, forming relationships with schools, community groups, and partners.
  • Partner with our marketing and brand teams to execute grassroots campaigns, parent-facing events, and school collaborations that drive traffic and trust.
  • Champion your markets: Advocate for the unique needs of your cities across the company. Bring insights from the ground to inform product, brand, and strategy decisions.
  • Work closely with Recess HQ to contribute to national strategy and share local insights.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in sales, operations, city launching, business development, or general management roles, ideally in a fast-paced or high-growth environment. Marketplace experience is a plus.
  • Proven track record of launching new markets, building 0→1 systems, or owning regional revenue targets, supply-side growth, and local operations
  • 3+ years of experience building, managing, and developing teams
  • Bachelor’s degree
